a5c7b9f00b King Regis, who oversees the land of Lucis, commands his army of soldiers to protect the kingdom from the Niflheim empire's plans to steal the sacred crystal which gives Lucis its magic and power. The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the hallowed Crystal, but the menacing empire of Niflheim will stop at nothing to make it theirs. War has raged between the two forlongmost can remember. King Regis of Lucis commands an elite force of soldiers dubbed the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king's magic, Nyx Ulric and his fellow glaives stand before the crown city of Insomnia, fighting to stay the inexorable advance of Niflheim's imperial army. Before the overwhelming military might of the empire, King Regis can only salvage his kingdom by accepting an ultimatum-he must cede all lands outside the crown city, and see his son, Prince Noctis, wed to Lady Lunafreya, the former princess of Tenebrae now captive of Niflheim. As the war of wills rages, the machinations of Niflheim transform Insomnia into an awe-inspiring battleground, pulling Nyx into a struggle for the very survival of the kingdom. I wanted to like it but I found it weak.

The animation was of course spectacular that was a given. It was some of the best animation I've seen, with the most detailed character design, absolutely mind blowing.

It's the same issue I have with Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within. The film's animation was great but I got very little from the story and found the characters far two dimensional. The story may work if your playing ita game not just watching it.

I can only imagine if I were a true die hard Final Fantasy fan, other than just someone vaguely familiar with the games, that I would like the movie just a little more, maybe being able to point out the trivia would get me excited.

As a movie, there is a lot of amazing action sequences, like this cool war sequence at the beginning of the film, The heroes of the film do this thing where they toss their swords at something then teleport themselves to the place the blade is, kick ass.

The only problem is, getting to these action packed parts means having to bare though a poorly produce plot that's easy enough to follow, but hard to get into. It was a series of characters that I could not get into.

Not even with the voice talents of Arron Paul and Sean Bean could I gather enough emotion to give a crap about anyone or anything in this movie. May have been a better movie if it was just one big action sequence.

http://cinemagardens.com Why this movie is being rated low is beyond me. Reviews on Metacritc state you might get lost watching the movie. That it's only for fans. That it's not a good movie in itself, but the best FF movie. What a load of ****. I'm not a die-hard fan of FF, having played only FF8, and at no point I found myself wondering what I was watching. That is the first point, you can understand perfectly what's going on, provided that your IQ is not too low, seems to be the case with "professional" reviewers. The animation is simply brilliant, it's so realistic that you find yourself wondering whether it's a movie or an animation, and all the characters are well-writing, so much so that you get attached to them and feel it when they happen to, well, die. The voice acting is great, too, and well-suited. The main characters are great, and the writing and the plot in general are top-notch, complex, not a black-n'-white American world view. At last, the combat is astounding.

This is, in sum, a beautiful, touching movie. Just ignore the "professional" reviewers and people mimicking them, just look at the insanely high rates they give to games and movies. They were probably just paid well enough and biased because it's "movie-game", a seemingly-inferior category of movie. The film is, at least, a marvelously enticing advertisement for the upcoming Final Fantasy XV video game.
